WAYS TO Malama Ia Hanahau‘oli,
CARE FOR HANAHAU‘OLI

The General Operating Fund
Gifts to the General Operating Fund support the operating needs of the school. These unrestricted gifts allow the school to provide for the rich educational program for children that is mandated by the mission of the school. They help to keep a Hanahau‘oli education affordable by limiting tuition increases, to maintain the competitive salaries Hanahau‘oli’s dedicated teachers deserve, and to rely less heavily on endowment income to underwrite the school’s operation. These funds are distributed to all areas of the school to ensure a comprehensive and individualized education for each child.

Scholarship Funds
Hanahau‘oli’s strong commitment to offering financial aid to eligible families stems from the desire to seek able students of varied talents and backgrounds. Maintaining an ethnic and socio-economic diversity amongst the student body is important to Hanahau‘oli as this mirrors the real world in which children live. Contributions to the Louisa Palmer Scholarship Fund, plus income from various named endowed scholarships that have been generously established by individuals and families go directly to provide financial assistance to families whose children would not otherwise be able to attend Hanahau‘oli.

Memorial Gifts
Hanahau‘oli is grateful to those individuals who give to the school in memory of friends and relatives. Families may specify how these funds may be used to support areas of the program that their loved ones cared most about.

Matching Gifts
Hanahau‘oli benefits when individuals apply to their employer’s matching gift program for a match of their personal donation to the school. Many companies have chosen this avenue of supporting their employees’ philanthropic interests and a simple application may double an individual’s gift to Hanahau‘oli.

Gifts in Kind
Donations of personal property enrich the program, assist teachers and enhance the learning environment in countless ways. Hanahau‘oli provides documentation for gifts so that donors may establish value for their tax purposes.

Foodland's Give Aloha Program

A very easy way to donate to your favorite charity, Foodland and Sack N Save stores accept donations at the checkout stand for qualified non-profits - which includes Hanahau`oli School. Now in its 12th year, Foodland uses this program to give money away to non profit organizations in our state. The program runs every year during the month of September, in honor of Foodland's founder, Maurice Sullivan.

All you need to do is show your Maika`i card to any cashier, make a donation to Hanahau`oli (#77501), and turn in a copy of your receipt to the office. At the end of the month, Foodland will add up all the donations we have received and will then give us a percentage match of the $300,000 they are giving away this year. It's that easy and a great way to increase the value of your gift to Hanahau`oli.
